San Diego Comic-Con 2018 is drawing to a close, and as a result, the barrage of content being dolled out is also winding down, unfortunately. However, the show must go on, and although the frequency in which minutia is being announced has slowed considerably, there’s still some pretty significant news coming out of the “largest convention of its kind in the world.”
Earlier this afternoon, for example, we received word that the new Venom trailer – which had screened within the confines of Hall H Friday night – should be made available for public consumption sometime next week. Now, we’re hearing that Warner Bros. is looking for a specific type of actress to lead their solo Batgirl film.
According to Twitter user @DanielRPK – who’s been a veritable treasure trove of DC news flashes in the past – WB has described “the kind of actress they want for Barbara Gordon as ‘Kristen Stewart prototype.’” Evidently, the studio “really want her to play Babs.”
Stewart, whose career hit a bit of a rough patch between 2008-2012 on account of the Twilight franchise, has since won critics and moviegoers over with strong performances in Clouds of Sils Maria, Certain Women and Personal Shopper, among other films. Whether she’d be a good choice for Barbara Gordon, however, is another matter entirely.
What’s also interesting to note is that @DanielRPK ended off his Tweet by telling us Babs will not be in Birds of Prey at all, which is something else we’ve been hearing recently. Regardless, it’s clear that casting for the role is now heating up and with any luck, we should learn more soon.
Until then, though, tell us, would you like to see Kristen Stewart or someone like her take on the part of Batgirl? Be sure to make yourself heard by commenting down below.
