On the Road Adaptation Rolling — Again
Francis Ford Coppola and Gus Van Sant have both tried and failed to get Jack Kerouac’s epic beat novel to the screen, but Motorcycle Diaries director Walter Salles is set to start shooting this summer, with Kristen Stewart cast as Dean Moriarty’s wife Marylou.
Verdict: In between Twilight photo shoots for Teen People, Stewart is stocking up serious indie cred with movies like Adventureland, The Runaways, and Welcome to the Rileys. On the Road is famously unfilmable, and might not even be that interesting when it is, but hey, nice to see that she’s not just doing superhero movies and romantic comedies.
