Kristen Stewart would make a ‘great Bond girl’

James Bond actor Daniel Craig has said Kristen Stewart would make “a great Bond girl”.

The Skyfall actor – who has played James Bond three times since taking on the role in 2006, and just signed up to do two more of the British spy movies – jokingly dismissed the Twilight actress’ ambitions to star in a future Bond film in a radio interview, before saying he was only being “nasty” because their new films are currently in direct competition at the box office.

Asked if he thought Kristen would be the right fit for a Bond movie, the British hunk, 44, said: “Would she make a good Bond girl? No, she’s in Twilight.”

He quickly backtracked and explained to The Kyle and Jackie O Show in Australia: “No, I’m being nasty.

“It’s only because the film (Skyfall) is coming out at the same time (as Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), we’re in direct competition. I’m sure she’d make a great Bond girl.”

Kristen, 22, has previously admitted she is interested in reading a Bond script.

She said: “I would love to read a few graphs of the script. I choose my roles really instinctually. I would really have to connect with the material.”

She later added: “As long as I get to have a gun. Yes, hell yeah.”

Kristen to star in Snow White sequel

Meanwhile, Kristen’s fears about the future of her acting career now the Twilight franchise has ended have eased slightly as she has signed up for a Snow White and the Huntsman sequel.

However, director Rupert Sanders will not be returning.

The Twilight actress has signed on to reprise her role as the fairy tale princess, but Rupert, who helmed the first movie, will not be taking part in the new project following his affair with Kristen.

Sources sais the filmmaker is completely focused on saving his marriage to Liberty Ross – who played Kristen’s mother in the movie – and so studio bosses have been forced to find a new director.

“The script has already been written and production will begin late next year,” a source told RadarOnline.com.

“However, Rupert Sanders definitely won’t be a part of the project. Rupert didn’t want to be a part of it to begin with because he is desperately still trying to save his marriage.

“The search is still on for a new director.”

It was previously reported that Liberty, 34, gave her husband an ultimatum after he cheated, telling him he could not be involved with the sequel if he wanted to be with her.

A source previously said: “Liberty let it be known in no uncertain terms that Rupert can’t direct the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman.”

Kristen was dumped by her long-term boyfriend Robert Pattinson – who plays her on-screen husband in the Twilight movies – after the affair was revealed in July.

However, the heartbroken actor has since taken her back following her “momentary indiscretion” and the pair are currently on a promotional tour for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
