Kristen Stewart on ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’: Bella is awkward and ‘owns that’

Kristen Stewart says her character of mortal Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga films is “awkward” but that her personality helps her show in the upcoming third movie Eclipse that her love for the vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson is genuine and by choice.

“She’s awkward whatever but she so owns that,” Stewart said. “I think it’s important for to make a choice to be with Edward and a choice to be a part of his world and not just hike it up to ‘Oh I have the vampire effect, it’s just taken over and I’m just going to mindlessly follow him where ever he goes.'”

“So, I think it’s important for her at the end to say, ‘I’m kind of a weirdo, so I really belong here, so stop discrediting my love for you, homey,” the actress said in comments made to George Pennacchio of KABC Television, OnTheRedCarpet.com’s parent company.
Swan has a “unique” relationship with Cullen as well as the third side to the ongoing love triangle – the werewolf Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner. Pattinson jokingly compared the showdowns between Cullen and Black to being in a nightclub.

“Now their dynamic is surprising for Bella because she’s like, ‘Why do you guys even care?’ because she’s so clueless,” Stewart said.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, set to hit theaters on June 30, is “very suspenseful” but has good comedic elements, according to Lautner.
