“Welcome to the Rileys” is supposed to be Kristen Stewart’s breakthrough film. The film that vaults Stewart into the top rankings of female actresses in Hollywood. But based on early sneak peak reviews it looks like that may not happen for Kristen Stewart based on her performance in “Welcome to the Rileys.”
The many reviews that I have read in the last couple of weeks have come from selected critics that were able to get a sneak preview of the film.
Based on those reviews Kristen Stewart’s performance and the movie in general has received mixed reviews. They have ranged from horrible to great and everything in between. One review in particular from Al Alexander of the Milford Beacon completely rips Kristen Stewart and the movie calling it a movie that “can’t be taken seriously.” He also calls Stewart’s performance pedestrian. You may be asking you the heck is Al Alexander. While you may not have heard of him, he is generally considered one of the better critics in the country.
Stewart has also received good reviews from a handful of other respected critics throughout the country as well.
But, for a movie that was supposed to be Stewart’s breakthrough performance, the mixed reviews are not a good sign. We will have to see what happens when the film is released nation wide later this month.
